Dietel parts have arrived! It's amazing how little €410 buys.
Hi, my name is Joaquin, I'm from Uruguay, South Amreica. I just discovered a Berlin SR59 in an old barn. The Scooter is dismantled but I want to put it back together and rebuild it as original as I can. The thing is that I know nothing about this scooter and that some parts are missing, like the Tacho, the mirror, etc... Would you give me some advice on the restoration and maybe give me some tips where to buy spare parts? Thank you a lot and congrats on your IWL
I got most of my parts from www.dietel-fahrzeugteile.de and www.oldtimerteile-nordhausen.de, but they're both difficult to deal with - extremely slow, don't take credit cards (bank transfer only). If you don't speak German, it's grief.
I had better luck with Daniel Steiner at Oldsmoped.de. He speaks English, too.
In the mean time, go register at the IWL forum here and create a post about the bike (with pictures). I'm sure they'll be amazed to learn that there's a Berlin in Uruguay! They might even help you with ordering some bits.
Do you know how it ended up in Uruguay? They're rare as hell even in the UK...
Pawel You can find a manual for the IWL Berlin in English at the Yahoo Group - http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/germanscooterclub/?yguid=319050899 They are very helpful
